MYA KRESNYAK

Born in Vancouver, BC, Mya began her dance training at the Vancouver Junior Professional Division under the direction of Kate Robbins and Elizabeth Isabelle. After graduating from the school’s pre-professional program, she continued her training in the United States at The HARID Conservatory and Master Ballet Academy, where she further refined her classical technique, artistry, and versatility.

Mya earned recognition at the Youth America Grand Prix Competition in 2017, receiving the Grand Prix Award at the Phoenix Semi-Finals and the Gold Medal for Contemporary Pas de Deux at the New York City Finals. In 2018, Mya competed at the USA International Ballet Competition, where she received the Robert Joffrey Award of Merit and a contract with Atlanta Ballet II.

In 2020, Mya joined Alberta Ballet, where she performed a diverse repertoire of classical and contemporary works by renowned choreographers including Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, Jean Grand-Maître, Cathy Marston, Nicolo Fonte, and Helen Pickett. During her time with the company, she developed a strong foundation in collaborative creation and gained experience across a wide range of choreographic styles. Her featured roles, such as Klara in The Nutcracker and Red Riding Hood in Der Wolf by Morgan Runnacre Temple, deepened her artistry, technical range, and storytelling as a dynamic performer.

Mya is excited to begin this next chapter with Ballet Vancouver and to continue evolving as an artist through new creative experiences.
