Tanya Phelps is a distinguished ballet professional with over two decades of experience as an instructor, choreographer, coach, and arts advocate. She began teaching at Goh Ballet Academy in 2003, where she now serves as Director of Special Projects & Programming. In this role, she develops innovative programs, curates educational outreach, and builds cultural partnerships that elevate the profile of dance within the community.
Her teaching and coaching have guided students to international recognition, including a first-place win at the Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP). Tanya has adjudicated major competitions, designed international dance curricula, and led masterclasses worldwide. She is certified with American Ballet Theatre and Progressive Ballet Technique, and holds Registered Teacher Status with the Royal Academy of Dance, with additional training in both the Vaganova and Balanchine methods.
A former performer in acclaimed productions including Giselle, Don Quixote, Serenade, Paquita, Sleeping Beauty, and The Nutcracker, Ms. Phelps has since expanded her impact through award-winning choreography and collaborations with cultural and charitable organizations. Today, she focuses on leadership, artistic direction, and advocacy, dedicated to advancing ballet as both a cultural and educational force while ensuring the art form remains accessible, relevant, and inspiring for future generations.
